The effectiveness and effectively of the Cooperative Learning STAD in terms of Mathematical Communication of Students – This article aims to describe the effectiveness of Cooperative Learning STAD ( Student Team Achievement Divisions ) in terms of Mathematical Communications of students. Regulation Minister number 22 on 2006 about the content standards that one of it claim that through study of mathematics, students are expected to communicate ideas with symbols, tables, diagrams, or other media to clarify a situation or problem. However, in fact, skill of mathematical communication are still low.
This is because in the learning process of teachers have not train students to work on the problems that can bring out mathematical communication, students are not required to evaluate and explain the reasons for the answers that given. There should be efforts to reform in order to improve skill of mathematical communication by using the cooperative learning STAD.
The cooperative learning STAD is cooperative learning that students learn by using a small group whose it members is heterogeneous and use students woorksheet or lesson plan to accomplish the learning material, then help each other to understand the learning materials through the tutorial, quiz each other or discussion.
Furthermore, students present discussion results in front of class and responded by other groups. In addition, students are given the award so students be excited and motivated to learn, and be better than before. It process give a positive impact in terms of skill of mathematical communications of students so learning is effective.
The effectiveness can be seen from KKM that specified. Students successfully obtained value more than KKM so this shows that the cooperative learning STAD is effective in terms of skill of mathematical communications of students.
